MIAMI – September 15, 2025 – Visa (NYSE:V) today announced the appointment of Nuno Lopes Alves as the new Regional President for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Lopes Alves succeeds Eduardo Coello, who will assume a new role as Chairman for LAC. Visa also announced that Rodrigo Cury has been promoted to Country Manager for Brazil.
Lopes Alves brings more than 25 years of banking, payments and consulting experience to his new role. An eight-year Visa veteran, Lopes Alves most recently served as Country Manager for Brazil since 2021, where he led the transformation of Visa’s business in what is one of the most dynamic, fast-changing payments markets in the world. He originally joined Visa in 2017 to lead business development in Brazil and later served as Group Country Manager for the Andean region where he drove Visa’s growth across Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Prior to Visa, Lopes Alves built a diverse career in consulting and finance, with leadership positions at multinationals including Accenture and Barclays.
Mr. Lopes Alves will be based in Miami and is expected to transition to his new role on October 1. He will report to Oliver Jenkyn, Visa’s Group President, Global Markets. Mr. Coello, who joined Visa more than two decades ago and has led LAC since 2015, will assist in this transition as he steps into his new position as Chairman. In this newly created role, Mr. Coello will lead critical strategic engagements with government officials and industry leaders. He will also serve as a special advisor on leadership talent development and scaling of operating models.
“We are grateful to Eduardo for all that he has done to grow our business during his extraordinary 25+ year career at Visa and look forward to his continued impact as he takes on his new role as Chairman,” said Mr. Jenkyn. “An exemplary leader of people, Eduardo has developed a strong bench of talent, and we could not be more delighted for Nuno to lead our business in LAC. Nuno is an innovative leader and strategist with strong client relationships plus a keen understanding of how commerce is poised to change as we enter an exciting new era of payments.”
Mr. Cury, a 25+ year banking and payments leader, will begin his new role leading Visa’s business in Brazil on October 1. He will continue to be based in Sao Paulo where he most recently led business development with private issuers and acquirers for Brazil since joining the company in 2024.
